The course aims to introduce attendants to the scientific accident investigation, analysis and preventions in order to reduce the number of marine accidents and incidents, resulting in a safer world without accidents. The course is based on and referred to IMO model course 3.11 (SAFETY INVESTIGATION INTO MARINE CASUALTIES AND MARINE INCIDENTS) and academic knowledge from researches.

This course, based on IMO Model course 3.11, is aimed at giving the attendants a short but complete overview of fundamentals in carrying out investigations into marine casualties and incidents. It provides, thanks to the flexible mean of the e-learning, an insight of the core requirements when conducting casualty investigations, support to the investigators in the field and the investigation goals.

The course refers to the most recent academic knowledge rose from researches and it has been developed in compliance with IMO requirements. The course has been realized by a partnership between IMSSEA and Prof. Koji Fukuoka (JP), Ph.D Master Mariner.
