  • This course was designed to provide training for candidates who would provide medical first aid on board ships, under Section A-VI/4 of the STCW Code.
  • This syllabus covers the requirements of the 2010 STCW Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/4, and Table A-VI/4-1. Upon meeting the minimum standard of competence in medical first aid, a trainee will be qualified to apply immediate first aid in the event of an accident or illness on board.

TEACHING METHOD:
  • Instructions will be undertaken through a series of lectures, tutorials and practical session. Practical sessions will be carried out by professional medical officer.
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENT / TARGET GROUP: COURSE CERTIFICATE:
  • Seafarers should have completed IMO Model Course No. 1.13, Elementary First Aid or attained a similar standard in elementary first aid.
  • The course is mandatory for all Deck officer’s prior issue of Class-3 Deck (CoC).
 
TARGET GROUP: COURSE CERTIFICATE:
  • A certificate of course completion shall be issued to those who shall satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements.
  • Certificate of Proficiency is issued by the Department of Shipping, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
